Remember Remember the 5th of November
So Halloween is over and Bonfire night is upon us. We love firework displays in our family so we always try and find a nice family friendly local display to go to (I get too nervous about home displays!). A well run professional event is a great & safe way to introduce little pickles to fireworks and the hypnotic wonders of a bonfire. Most of us don’t know how they are going to react until you get there so best to be well prepared and follow a few simple guidelines to help make it an enjoyable experience for children & parents alike.
Firstly, wrap up warm! They can sometimes be a lot of standing around waiting for a display to begin, so lots of layers, waterproofs, wellies, hats & gloves. Don’t forget an extra thick pair of socks to keep little ones’ toes warm under wellies.
A warm cosy toes & rain cover if you have a pram or pushchair with you.
Earmuffs are a great way to protect your little pickles ears from those big bangs. It’s usually the noise rather than the pretty lights in the sky that can unnerve them and they will soon take them off if they’re happy to listen to the rockets zooming up into the sky.
Sparklers are a big no no until your children are at least 5 years old and even then should be well supervised by an adult, keeping them at arms length.
If you’re having a display at home, Fireman Sam has some great tips to follow to ensure everyone stays safe and enjoys the fireworks.
If you are looking for an event near you why not check out www.netmums.co.uk and www.mumsintheknow.co.uk. Both have lots of firework displays listed for the next few days. If you know of a good display near you that’s not listed then please do comment on the post.
Have fun and stay safe from all at Little Pickles Markets x
