You know, that the health and happiness of your children is the most important part of being a parent. But what do you do if you child isn’t born healthy?
In the UK, one in 30 babies are born with a condition which could affect them for life.

When Riley was born he didn’t have a pulse and wasn’t breathing. He had suffered oxygen deprivation at birth and was at serious risk of permanent brain injury. His parents, Dave and Sarah had to quickly make the decision as to whether they would allow Riley to become the first baby in the world to receive a combined treatment of cooling and xenon gas. As Dave explains, “We were told the treatment would have to start before Riley was 12 hours old. It was one of the hardest decisions we’ve ever made. But, somehow, everything seemed to click into place. We were in the right place at the right time.”

Riley was saved from possible brain injury by Professor Marianne Thoresen and her pioneering research which has developed a unique combination of xenon gas and body cooling treatment. Marianne’s research is funded by the children’s charity, Sparks who work to ensure that all babies are given the best possible start in life. Thanks to the research funded by Sparks, Riley is now a healthy and very happy two-year-old.
So how can you help more stories turn out like Riley’s? Whether you have been affected by the work Sparks does or appreciate your own healthy children, there are many simple ways for you to help make a real and lasting difference to the lives of children.

A present to remember

Christmas is coming and it’s time to start shopping.  Our Christmas Show this weekend is the perfect place to make a start and we’re very pleased that Gecko Art will be there to help you, because that’s exactly what they did for me a few months ago!

Ok some I’m not going to pretend I have already started Christmas shopping but they helped me create a wonderful gift for my mother-in-laws 60th birthday!  I’m sure she wouldn’t mind me saying but she probably has EVERYTHING and unless we had a huge budget to blow on extravagant presents we weren’t sure what to get.  I knew something involving her only Grandchild (our little Oliver) would go down a treat which is why I turned to Gecko Art.

They were able to create a work of art using a beautiful photo of Oliver, plus prints of his hands and feet which were completely mess free using an inkless kit which they provided for us.  The kit came with idiot proof instructions and once I sent the prints back, in the pre-paid, addressed envelope they turned around a number of proofs me to choose from.

And this was the end product!

Needless to say the present went down very well and is hanging in pride of place at Granny’s house.

Now why would I happily recommend Gecko Art?  It’s easy!

  1. The customer service is excellent.  Nothing was too much trouble and they were full to helpful ideas when I didn’t know where to start.
  2. The quality of the end product is fantastic.  Prices start from £20 upwards so should be something to suit most budgets.
  3. But what I LOVED during the whole process was their attention to detail.  From the emails they sent, the stationery used for the inkless kit and the packaging for sending the framed artwork meant there was no danger of it get damaged.

We’re very much looking forward to seeing the Gecko-Art ladies again and here is a little taste of what I would personally love to order in the future once we’ve had another Little Pickle.
